We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and passionate person with experience of working in Adult Eating Disorder (AED) services and/or as a AED commissioner to lead our Adult Eating Disorder Inpatient workstream.

As it is essential for the postholders to have strong working relationships with key clinical and operational leaders within the SLP geography, candidates will need a current or recent knowledge of AED services in south London. You will bring together clinicians and service leads to develop partnership working and service change across services for adults with eating disorders with the most complex presentations. You will support the strategic and operational development of the workstream as well as consistent and accessible service pathways ensuring that these support and maintain achievement of excellent clinical and quality outcomes for adults in South London. You will report to the SLP Clinical Director as well as working with other Workstream Leads on overlapping objectives and to ensure that work across the programme is aligned.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team supporting the continued development of partnership working and service change across AED services in South London. They will support the strategic and operational development as well as consistent and accessible AED services pathways ensuring that these support and maintain achievement of excellent clinical and quality outcomes for service users and their families in South London. The post holder will report to the SLP Clinical Director as well as working with other Workstream Leads on overlapping objectives and to ensure that work across the programme is aligned. In addition, the post holder may be required to work with other London and/or national organisations on specific service developments. The role offers an interesting opportunity to develop approaches and skills of working in both a provider and commissioner role.

The post would suit someone who has extensive experience of working in AED services and the enthusiasm and passion to bring together clinicians and service leads to develop and maintain high quality and accessible services for service users and their families. You will be an excellent communicator and able to build effective internal and external networks to ensure that pathways are efficient and consistent with the SLP aims. This role will suit an individual who has the drive and enthusiasm to support change and developing new frameworks for partnership working in a complex, dynamic environment.

Adult Eating Disorders Programme

The SLP Adult Eating Disorders Provider Collaborative has developed a programme plan to improve the AED mental health pathway for south London patients. The transformation programme will be driven by clinicians and Experts by Experience, allowing a focused and united approach to address challenges.

Job responsibilities

Key aspects of the roles which will include but are not limited to:-

  • Bringing together a core group of professionals from the services included in the pathways for regular meetings and to lead these meetings.
  • Supporting the continued development of partnership working that promotes multi-disciplinary engagement in the transformation of clinical services.
  • Develop and maintain credibility with all key stakeholders within the partnership community, fostering a culture of collaboration for the delivery of equitable, high quality care. At times this will include acting as an honest broker reconciling conflicting views and interests.
  • Providing senior Workstream Leadership.
  • Fostering a culture of multi-professional engagement in the improvement of care across integrated pathways for the AED partnership. This will include collaborating and engaging with clinical colleagues to develop and deliver ambitious programmes of quality improvement across the partnership.
  • Fostering and promoting a culture of clinical engagement and influence ensuring the partnership initiatives and services are clinically led. This includes developing links with AED services that sit outside the Provider Collaborative remit but are critical to developing effective pathways and way of working across services.
  • Opportunity to work with the Clinical Director to provide commissioning leadership and decision-making, facilitating partnership discussions and brokering agreement where necessary (such as in the Single Point of Referral process).
  • Developing a framework for the workstream that supports the improvements outlined within strategic priorities.
  • Working with colleagues to support the development of consistent service and clinical outcomes and share learning.
  • Supporting the identification of key issues, successes, risks or problems.
  • Identifying gaps in services.
  • Identifying and developing innovations (shared from individual teams initiatives or developed across South London) to improve services, NICE compliance etc. This may sometimes entail championing new initiatives or pilots to build an evidence base for new approaches that can help achieve the aims of accessible care, close to home and in the least restrictive setting.
  • Promoting the systematic application of quality frameworks and using evidence base and analytics to inform quality improvements.
  • Ensuring that workstream activities under the Leads purview are conducted in compliance with all confidentiality and governance requirements within the partnership.
  • Promoting opportunities for shared training and staff development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse or other registered social care Qualification or Post graduate doctoral qualification in clinical psychology (or equivalent) or A nationally recognised Psychotherapy training (UKCP -PP section or BPC)
  • Live registration or
  • Evidence of specialist training
  • Proven ability in teaching and formal training in professional/clinical supervision
  • Professional management qualification or equivalent level of substantial experience/training in leading services and successfully managing or contributing to major change programmes
  • Leadership training and experience of leading services and complex development programmes

Experience

  • Senior Clinical or Operational experience working in AED services
  • Leading or supporting service development initiatives

  • Service design and implementation
