University Hospitals Bristol & Weston Critical Care is looking to recruit hard-working, self-motivated and inspiring doctors to join our team of 26 Consultants. We are looking to recruit to 3 full time locum positions for a 12 month period.

Main duties of the job

These are locum posts to help support an ongoing expansion in critical care capacity on the Bristol site. The current ICU bedbase compromises 60 beds in 6 discrete clinical areas across the Bristol and Weston sites. We admit more than 3000 patients a year. Our severity of illness and outcomes are consistently well above the national average based on serial ICNARC data.

Recent developments include the merger of the General, Cardiac and Weston adult critical care services. Our unit was commissioned as a Veno-Venous ECMO / Severe Acute Respiratory Failure centre in 2022. We have a multidisciplinary Critical Care Outreach service on the Bristol site, along with a well-established Critical Care Outreach service at Weston General Hospital.

You need to be in possession of a CCT (or equivalent) in Intensive Care Medicine (or within six months of your CCT date on the day of interview) and have GMC registration with a licence to practice. This is a full-time ICM post in terms of PAs but both full-time and less than full-time working is accommodated within the Consultant rota structure.
