Job summary

We are pleased to offer a unique opportunity for highly motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to gain experience within HPFT's Community Specialist Learning Disability Services (SLDS).

This post sits within a well established SLT team working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary service. The post holder will benefit from formal supervision as well as excellent peer support. There is a strong ethos of Continuous Quality Improvement throughout the service and the Trust as a whole, creating possibilities for developing and extending knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job

This is an ideal post for a newly qualified SLT, who will receive regular clinical supervision and support and will be actively encouraged to participate in continuing professional development.

The successful candidates will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team and will join the well-established Speech and Language Therapy service.

Job responsibilities

- To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based, person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention

- To provide this service, by driving independently, to service users within the LD community services who present with communication difficulties

Person Specification

Qualification

Essential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • State registration with HCPC
  • RCSLT Membership

Desirable

  • Training in learning disabilities, mental health and/or challenging behaviour

Experience

  • Specialist knowledge and application of speech and language therapy assessments and interventions
  • Range of clinical experience and ability to demonstrate application of clinical skills

Desirable

  • Planning and co-ordination of treatment packages
