WALTON WARD, PSYCHIATRY INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

Full time, 10 Programmed Activities per week plus 1 additional PA subject to annual job plan review for flexibility and acuity

(part time may be considered)

The successful candidate will be part of the out of hours on-call consultant rota (1 in 15) and paid at 3% on call supplement

South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Psychiatry Intensive Care Unit (PICU) based at Fieldhead Hospital, Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will be an integral role within the Wakefield Acute Care Pathway. Walton PICU Ward is a 14-bed adult psychiatry intensive care unit (PICU) based at the Unity Centre , Fieldhead Hospital in Wakefield.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych.
  • Additional clinical qualifications

Experience

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work in and lead team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership and collaborative working to deliver improvement.
  • Participated in continuous professional development.
  • Participated in research or service evaluation.
  • Able to lead Case-Based Discussion Groups.

Desirable

  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
  • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
  • Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
  • Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients.
  • Has cared for close family / friend with mental health needs.

Eligibility

Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC and have a licence to practise or be in a position to have a licence to practice on commencement in the post.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for General Psychiatry, or within six months of gaining CCT.
  • Approved or eligible clinician status.
  • Approved or eligible under S12.

Desirable

  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
