We have a unique opportunity for a dedicated Team Lead to join the Cellular Therapy Trials team and be at the forefront of cutting-edge research within the Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre (CCTC).

Established in 2020, the Cellular Therapy Trials team has been leading innovative cancer research. We now seek someone to play a pivotal role in advancing this team and expanding the scope and impact of our cellular therapy initiatives within and beyond cancer.

As the Cellular Therapy Team Lead, you will shape the future of cellular therapy research within Addenbrooke's Hospital (CUH). You will collaborate closely with colleagues, including your Specialty Research Lead (SRL), Dr Ben Uttenthal, and other teams and departments across the Trust to facilitate safe and timely trial set-up and recruitment, navigating and prioritising multiple competing demands efficiently.

We seek someone with excellent leadership, diplomacy and organisational skills to steer and develop our specialised research team. A proactive and strategic mind-set will be crucial in driving the development and expansion of cellular therapy trials within CUH.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Research Nurse / Practitioner Team Lead will be a member of the Cambridge Cancer Trials Team. The post-holder will work closely with the health care teams associated with the multidisciplinary team. Leading on recruiting patients into this very exciting portfolio - offering complex therapies to this patient group. They will line manage a small team but will be at the forefront of developing the Cellular Therapy service within CUH. To also be proactively part of the wider CCTC management team supporting other team leads and being involved in projects across the department.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/ Clinical Research Practitioner educated to Degree level or willingness to undertake
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Teaching qualification.

Desirable

  • Research Module.
  • Masters Degree
  • Post registration qualification in speciality

Experience

Essential

  • Significant relevant experience in the Specialty and ability to demonstrate expert Clinical Research Practitioner/ nursing skills.
  • Previous experience of nursing/ Clinical research Practitioner within a research environment
  • Accept personal accountability for own practice.

Desirable

  • Experience of formal/informal teaching.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance.
  • Knowledge of clinical research infrastructure in the UK and relevant Research Governance legislation & regulations
  • Understanding of the requirements of Good Clinical Practice & possession of GCP Certificate
  • Knowledge of the role of the clinical research nurse/ Clinical research Practitioner and principles of informed consent for participation in research
  • Knowledge of health research methodology
