About Hobbs:

In 2005, neuro physiotherapists Helen Hobbs and Nicky Ellis setup Hobbs Rehabilitation and since then it has expanded rapidly offering an exceptional level of personalised skill and expertise. Now operating from 11 locations, Hobbs Rehabilitation provides specialist inpatient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation for adults and children across the south of England, treating a wide variety of conditions, including stroke, acquired brain injury and spinal cord injuries. An expert team of over 100 therapists, including OT, PT, SLT and Psychology, provide an interdisciplinary patient-centred neuro rehabilitation service, ensuring the individual is placed at the centre of care. We are passionate about pursuing the latest advances in research and technology to support our clients and staff to achieve their full potential, through involvement in research projects, development of services using advanced technology, and support for training and CPD.

The Role:

A unique and exciting role has arisen for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our existing specialist therapy teams at Hobbs Rehabilitation, the largest independent provider of specialist neurological rehabilitation to adults in the south of England.

Due to recent changes within the service, an opportunity has arisen to join our growing team of therapists at the Intensive Neurotherapy Centre in Bristol. We are looking for someone with an interest in neurological rehabilitation and amputee rehab, the successful candidate will be expected to pick up a joint neuro and amputee caseload with support from our experienced, specialist team. We offer conventional therapy (OT/PT) alongside the use of neurotechnology to achieve patient-centred goals. We treat patients undergoing packages of intensive treatment as well as outpatients with a variety of complex neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury and MS, as well as polytrauma patients and we are expanding our services into prosthetic and amputee rehabilitation alongside local prosthetics services.

You will have full access to our state-of-the-art Tyromotion neurotechnology including use of the gait trainer, LEXO. You do not need to have prior experience in use of technology, we will train you up as part of your induction. Hobbs also has access to a wide variety of other neurotechnology, such as exoskeletons, FES, MyoPro and GripAble, some of which you may also have an opportunity to work with as part of your role, as Hobbs is always increasing its neurotechnology portfolio.

There will also be opportunities to participate in research and development projects as part of your clinical professional development. The centre in Bristol is always growing and we also plan to expand our SLT and neuropsychology services in the coming months.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assessing patients with acquired physical or cognitive impairments using a range of formal and informal assessments.

• Practice safely within the legal and ethical boundaries of the profession.

• Formulate patient-centred goals in conjunction with MDT.

• Create and provide one-to-one and group physiotherapy intervention to patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments, using a comprehensive knowledge of evidence-informed practice and treatment options.

• Evaluate patients progress using published outcome measures.

• Liaising regularly with the Hobbs MDT and wider care team.

• Maintain up to date and accurate clinical notes using site-specific software and local procedures.

• Write high quality patient reports, including MDT discharge reports for inpatients.

• Attend and contribute to patient and family meetings, both face-to-face and via video.

• To be responsible for providing input to local training both in development and/or delivery as required.

Skills & Experience

• Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.

• HCPC registration.

• Member of the CSP

• Knowledge and understanding of physiotherapy assessment and treatment approaches relating to acquired neurological conditions.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience of working as an integrated member of a multidisciplinary team.

• Neurological rehabilitation experience.

• Commitment to developing skills through training, supervision and mentoring.

• Innovative and creative thinking

• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the service.

Desirable skills

• Interest in working with neurotechnology

• Competent with IT skills such as familiarity with Word, excel, powerpoint and google drives

• Experience of working with a neurological and/or amputee caseload - this could be part of a student or Junior placement

The successful candidate must have a full clean driving licence and be prepared to travel to training and other Hobbs sites.
