Would you like to join our friendly Child Health team at Scarborough Hospital?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly team as an Audio Typist, working alongside the Child Health Medical Secretary team at Scarborough Hospital.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can work effectively using their own initiative, as well as being part of a team. They must be a proficient Audio Typist with the ability to transcribe complex digital dictation.

The successful candidate will posses GCSE English Language, Grade C or above, or equivalent. They must also possess a relevant typing qualification of RSA II standard (or equivalent), as well as previous clerical/administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare or customer based setting.

Main duties of the job

  • Audio typing of outpatient clinic, discharge and general administrative letters
  • Dictation and booking appointments
  • Filing, photocopying and other administrative tasks as necessary
  • Provide typing and administrative support to the medical secretariat within the Directorate as requires
  • Deal with routine internal telephone queries
  • Respond in a professional and sensitive manner when dealing with confidential issues

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • oGCSE Maths and English at grade C+ or equivalent
  • oGood written and spoken English
  • oExcellent keyboard skills

Desirable

  • oAdministrative qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • oWord processing skills - RSA II (or equivalent)
  • oTyping skills - RSA II (or equivalent)

Experience and Knowledge Required

Essential

  • oPrevious clerical/administrative experience
  • oExperience of working in a customer focused environment
  • oExperience of using a variety of IT applications, including Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • oKnowledge of office applications and procedures
  • oKnowledge of medical terminology

Skills and Attributes

  • oEffective communication skills, verbal and written
  • oProficient audio typist with the ability to accurately transcribe complex audio tapes
