Job summary
As an Anatomical Pathology Technologist, you will play a critical role in the post-mortem process, ensuring the respectful handling of deceased individualsaccording to established protocols and standards. Your responsibilities willencompass various tasks, including the evisceration and reconstruction of bodies,particularly in cases involving high-risk and bariatric bodies. You will be responsiblefor obtaining specimen samples as required and facilitating viewings and policeidentifications in collaboration with the coroner's service.In addition to your technical duties, you will be entrusted with the crucial task ofreceipt and release of bodies, meticulously adhering to in-house procedures andmaintaining accurate records in accordance with the service's standard operatingprocedures. A key aspect of your role will be to uphold the highest standards ofhygiene within the public mortuary, ensuring a professional and respectfulenvironment.
Main duties of the job
As a committed and detail-oriented professional, you will contribute to the delivery of an excellent service in a dynamic and demanding environment. Your ability to prioritize tasks and assist pathologists, particularly in high-risk cases, will be pivotal to the efficientfunctioning of the mortuary. Operating under the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) license, you will ensure strict compliance with statutory and additional conditions, upholding thehighest ethical standards.Your role will extend beyond individual responsibilities, as you become an integral part of an enabled and empowered team. Collaborating with fellow officers, you will contributeto fostering a culture of shared knowledge and experience, where decisions on complex issues are made collectively. This role includes an on-call rota and may involve early/lateattendance.

What Youll Be Doing
Join our friendly mortuary team at Camden Council as an Anatomical
Pathology Technologist! As a key member of the team, you'll be
responsible for managing all aspects of mortuary operations, including
admission, identification, and storage of deceased bodies. You'll work
closely with clinicians and other professionals to ensure high standards
of post-mortem care and support the investigation process. This varied
role also involves assisting pathologists with forensic cases,
collaborating with emergency services, and facilitating viewings and
identifications with the Coroner's Office. If you're passionate about

All About you
You must have a Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technician or
equivalent APT qualification and have demonstrable experience of working
in a mortuary setting. Experience in high risk and forensic
post-mortems would be welcomed.
You will have good technical knowledge of mortuary policy, procedure,
and human anatomy. As well as a good understanding of health and safety
legislation and working in compliance with SOP and HTA guidelines.
You will be a resilient individual, you will have the ability to deal
with difficult situations and manage sensitive information securely.
You will have the ability to take an organised approach to your own
workload, working individually and as part of a team, whilst dealing
with conflicting priorities and ensure a customer service focussed
approach.
