An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of ward manager on a fast paced, often challenging but always rewarding, male inpatient ward at the Harbour, Blackpool.

You might be looking to progress into your first leadership role, or you may have lots of experience already under your belt, what matters to us is your drive and determination. You should have a keen eye for detail, and the ability to adapt quickly to situations.

With the ward due to soon embark on quality improvements around the use of virtual reality headsets for mindfulness, another around the introduction of self help books for patients to work through, and recently beginning a quality improvement journey around treating tobacco dependence, the right person should be equipped with the enthusiasm and motivation to push these initiatives in the right direction.

Leading a great team of staff, you should have experience of delivering meaningful supervision, as well as a passion for helping those around you develop to their full potential, including colleagues and students.

Main duties of the job

The inpatient units are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing.

The post holder supports the delivery of the inpatient hospital model providing leadership to professional and direct care staff, ensuring the availability of appropriate administrative support services in their wards to release clinical time to care.

The post holder will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence on wards, to whom patients and their families can turn for assistance, advice and support .
