Job summary

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic staff nurse to join our friendly, caring, well established School Nursing Targeted Intervention team.

The post is for 37.5 hours per week whole year round. Our team cover the Stoke on Trent area and are responsible for supporting children/young people (CYP) with complex, physical or emotional health needs. Our aim is to provide support to CYP, their families and the Schools in order that they can attend School safely and achieve to the very best of their ability.

This position will entail supporting our CYP, City Schools and pupil referral units, with; coordinating care, care planning, teacher training, enuresis clinics, continence support and supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The School Nursing Targeted Intervention Service prides itself in providing health advice and support to children, young people and their families within Stoke on Trent.

You must be a car driver with access to your own car for school visiting. Full training for the post will be given and the candidate will need to be educated to registered nurse level one.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload within their speciality area as an autonomous practitioner. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care to a specialist level ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge. They will be required to assess, plan and support children and young people with regards to all continence issues, including nocturnal enuresis, toileting programmes and assessing if there is a requirement for containment products. Subsequently assessing and ordering appropriate products if deemed necessary. They will also be required to develop, implement and evaluate individual care plans for children with specific health needs and train education staff to support children whilst in school.
