Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 nurse to work in a female dedicated adult acute in patient ward setting and be part of a multi-disciplinary team. Abbey ward is set within the Woodlands Acute unit Sussex partnership NHS Foundation Trust Hastings. Our Trust has just been upgraded by CQC as GOOD in every domain and EXCELLENT in the CARING domain. Due to this we are now the third leading Mental Health Trust in the country. We will strive to maintain our standards and always improve where we can.

This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions).

Main duties of the job

Working within a supportive clinically led team, you will have the opportunity to really work in partnership with patients - engaging, supporting and developing a relationship which really enables the recovery process. In your role we would want you to:

  • To deliver a high standard of evidence based inpatient nursing care in the designated care group in partnership with the team, the service users and where appropriate their family.
  • To act as a primary nurse in the assessment of needs and organising of care.
  • To co-ordinate shifts and provide supervision for support workers and students.
  • To work within a team of nurses and other professionals who are committed to the delivery of a quality service.
  • To adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty, in order to meet the needs of the service over a 24-hour period.
  • To take charge of a designated clinical area and deputise as appropriate.
  • To represent the clinical team perspective at multidisciplinary meetings and clinical reviews of patient care.
  • To be part of our National Quality Improvement project around reducing restrictive practice.
  • To be an active participant in the multi-disciplinary team, formulating care plans and utilising appropriate assessments.

Qualifications & Knowledge/Experience

  • Qualified as a Mental Health Nurse

  • Studying mental health nursing
