Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of digital healthcare? UHBW is on the hunt for a Digital Matron to join our team within Digital Services. Following the approval of the Digital Strategy the need for strong Digital Clinical leadership has never been more important. Supporting the delivery of clinically led, digitally enabled change we are looking for a dynamic individual with experience in digital change to come and lead the Digital Clinical Specialist Team. This is an opportunity for a twelve months fixed term (secondment will be considered) and may be reviewed at the end of that period.

Main duties of the job

This role is pivotal in driving our new Digital strategy forward, transforming digital concepts into clinically led realities that prioritise user experience and improve clinical outcomes. At an exciting time that sees the formation of the Bristol's hospital group, University Hospitals Bristol & Weston (UHBW) and North Bristol Trust's (NBT) digital services are coming together, and this post holder will support and facilitate the evolution of our Digital Clinical Specialist team. By leading our digital clinical team, this role will ensure high-quality, safe digital healthcare that delivers tangible benefits to our patients and our colleagues. Through managing the Digital Clinical Specialist Team, this role will ensure appropriate clinical expertise is applied across all programmes and business operations whilst supporting the evolution of the wider digital team.

The Digital Matron will ensure the safe, efficient design and implementation of digital solutions that enhance care quality and outcomes. They will provide expert clinical informatics advice, collaborating with stakeholders to involve patients and clinicians in system planning, development, and evaluation.

As a senior member of the Digital Services team, the Digital Matron will contribute to key meetings and discussions, shaping the digital landscape and ensuring clinical perspectives drive solution adoption and benefits realisation.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife/AHP
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous learning and application in practice
  • Accredited Clinical Safety Officer or actively working towards attaining this

Desirable

  • Post Registration qualification / Post Graduate diploma and training
  • Digital health qualification/ training
  • Change management/ transformation qualification
  • Project Management qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Exceptional understanding of clinical systems and their use within an acute hospital environment
  • Knowledge of change process methodologies
  • Experience of the development and delivery of clinical education and training
  • Demonstrable understanding of Health Policy and how IT can be used to improve operational and clinical processes for nursing, midwifery and AHPs
  • Experience of patient safety and experience of clinical risk management including an awareness of patient safety risks and the pitfalls of implementing clinical IT systems
  • Experience of delivering Hospital based Digital projects and organisational change programmes
  • Experienced healthcare practitioner with significant management/ leadership experience
  • Experience of working/ consulting with colleagues across a wide range of specialties and disciplines as well as patient groups where required

Desirable

  • Understanding of NHS national digital priorities and standards
  • Experience of supporting teams through organisational change

  • Able to deal with difficult issues sensitively and diplomatically
  • Effective line management and oversight of professional standards
  • Highly computer literate
  • Excellent communication, presentation and report writing
  • Ability to engage, motivate colleagues and other stakeholders as well as leading colleagues and able to gain trust and confidence of others
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiating skills with the ability to deal effectively with challenging situations and challenging people
  • Able to analyse and interpret complex information and present to non-experts in an understandable way
  • Ability to present to large mixed audiences in an engaging manner
  • A good self-starter, able to work autonomously
