An exciting opportunity for an innovative Allied Health Professional (AHP) to work at a system level within the Mid and South Essex ICS working directly with the AHP Director and Mid and South Essex AHP Council.

In Mid and South Essex, the Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs) Faculty provides the infrastructure to facilitate system-wide working between providers of health, social care, private independent voluntary organisations, education and training providers and arms length bodies and brings together AHP leaders from these different organisations.

The strategic aim is to support and deliver a collective approach to workforce supply and growth, working differently and productively in a compassionate and inclusive culture for AHPs across Mid and South Essex. In addition, there will also be a strong focus on increasing placement capacity, supporting continuing professional development, developing Advanced Clinical Practice roles and career opportunities, building partnerships with education providers, and addressing local educational and workforce priorities.

There will be opportunities to develop your leadership ability and your will be supported in developing your skills working across an Integrated Care System in order that we can create future AHPs ready to move into system leadership roles.

Main duties of the job

You will work at a strategic level as part of the MSE AHP Council to lead on programmes of work identified by Council as priorities for the AHP workforce across the ICS. The AHP Faculty Lead will work with MSE ICS colleagues to build a shared purpose and commitment to support AHP workforce transformation, training, and education alongside building a strong and sustainable AHP community across the ICS (the Integrated Care Board and the Integrated Care Partnership) and region.

You will support the AHP Faculty to build on its portfolio of projects to assure an AHP workforce for the future. The post holder will evidence the value of the AHP Faculty and senior AHP leadership. The AHP Faculty Lead has leadership responsibility for the ongoing development and sustainability of high quality and innovative practice and educational development for the AHPs within the system.

You will be expected to produce reports and/or documents for presentation at Council and other forums where appropriate e.g. MSE ICS People board, regional AHP Council meetings.

ROLE PURPOSE / SUMMARY

The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System will comprise the Integrated Care Board (ICB), which is the statutory body for the NHS, and the Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), which is a committee of the ICB, and brings together key health, care, community and voluntary sector organisations across the area.

The ICS has a bold ambition to deliver improved outcomes for our 1.2m population through our four Alliances, and we are placing clinical and professional leadership and the voice of our residents at the heart of realizing this ambition.

The AHP Faculty Managerd will play an important contribution to ensuring the ICS can discharge its four key purposes:

  • improve outcomes in population health and healthcare
  • tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access
  • enhance productivity and value for money
  • help the NHS support broader social and economic development

In addition, the post holder will be key in ensuring that the ICB realises its ambition of making the system distinctive, attractive and successful.

The post holder will support the AHP Director in developing and articulating strategic direction, providing a compelling vision for AHPs with MSE ICS and a broader supporting role in the ICS strategic ambitions to:

  • Reduce health inequalities
  • Create opportunities for our residents

  • Bring care closer to home where safe and possible
  • Transform and improve our services

CONTEXT

  • To lead programmes of work on behalf of the AHP Council to ensure objectives are achieved and actions taken to ensure a successful delivery of the project outcomes, using sound decision making, analysis and judgement in relation to these.
  • To produce reports, project plans and other documents for presentation/discussion at Council and other forums where appropriate e.g. Mid and South Essex ICS People board, regional AHP Council meetings.
  • To engage with and work in collaboration with project teams and other relevant stakeholders in clinical and strategic positions to support the progression and growth of the AHP workforce across the Mid and South Essex ICS, sharing best practice.
  • To work in collaboration with existing networks and teams to review, interpret and make recommendations as to what additional structures are required within organisations and at a system level to help support the progression of AHPs.
  • To chair and develop AHP Faculty seeking out and providing opportunities for inclusive membership ensuring representation from across Mid and South Essex ICS from a provider, professional, PIVO and HEI perspective.
  • To work in collaboration and in a matrix approach across MSE ICB (such as the People and Nursing and Quality Directorate) to ensure work is aligned and complimentary and to ensure efficiency and congruence.
