Job summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to lead our Neurosurgery Nursing Team within Division D. You will provide expert clinical guidance, education, and leadership to nursing staff within Division D Neurosurgery Nursing Team. They will collaborate with MDT to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures.
Main duties of the job
Providing clinical leadership and professional support to all nursing and wider team of staff.
Ensuring high quality, safe patient care is delivered by an appropriately skilled and educated workforce, through effective leadership by setting standards and performance monitoring of those standards.
Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure a high standard of quality care delivery including - safety, effectiveness and patient experience, learning from feedback and patient and public involvement strategies
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Expertise:Serve as the clinical expert and resource for nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers within the Neurosurgery department.Provide advanced assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with complex neurosurgical conditions, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.

Education and Training:Develop and implement educational programs and training sessions for nursing staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in neurosurgical nursing care.Provide mentorship, guidance, and clinical supervision to nursing staff, including new hires and students, to ensure competence and confidence in caring for neurosurgical patients.
3. Quality Improvement and Best Practices:Lead quality improvement initiatives within the Neurosurgery department to optimize patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based practices, clinical protocols, and standards of care in alignment with regulatory requirements and professional guidelines.
4. Research and Evidence-Based Practice:Stay abreast of current research, evidence-based guidelines, and best practices in neurosurgical nursing care.Participate in research activities, quality improvement projects, and performance improvement efforts to advance the science and practice of neurosurgery nursing.
5. Leadership and Collaboration:Serve as a leader and advocate for the Neurosurgery department, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, nurse leaders, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance patient care delivery and outcomes.

- Post registration module in Specialist field of work or equivalent
