Job summary

The post holder will be based within the Informatics Team and report to the Head of Informatics, whose primary aim is to ensure that the information and reporting needs of its community division are being met.

The post holder will have the responsibility for ensuring performance reporting processes are optimised for their purpose, designed and implemented to meet the needs of the data users and that data standards are adhered to.The post holder will lead in the development and programming of automated reports, scorecards and dashboards using a variety of programmes including Microsoft SQL, Excel, SSRS, Qlikview and Power BI.

The post holder will support the centralisation of data feeds and sources by defining data collection specifications with services and clinical staff that reflect the Trust's demand and output processes (both current and proposed), liaise with Information Management & Technology specialists to implement new data collection and entry methods

Main duties of the job

o To assist in the provision of an information service to managers within the Trust,producing regular and ad hoc reports in a timely and accurate manner.o To manage the provision of performance management information to the Head of Informatics and other service leads on the monitoring of SLA targets, waiting time targets and other key performance indicators.o To develop an understanding of the operational and clinical delivery of services within the Trust, and the commissioning arrangements of these services, to ensure accurate information is produced.

o To provide timely and accurate analysis of information and intelligence for the appropriate performance and planning reportingo To present complex information about activity and quality of care in a clear and understandable format to various audiences, including patients and the executive team, considering the background of the audienceo To be able to run scenarios modelling and forecastingo To provide succinct summaries and explanations on a range of complex/highly complex information as required, including reasons for variation against financial and activity plans.

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level equivalent or hold an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Examples of on-going professional development, including completion of leadership programme.

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification or equivalent experience e.g. PRINCE2
  • Improvement methodologies e.g. LEAN

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of working in NHS informatics environment.
  • Experience of producing analytics reports for presentation to senior levels with the organisation.
  • Communicate with staff at various levels from different organisations to understand system requirements, e.g. working with both clinical and admin staff at all levels to assess requirements for reporting solutions
  • Experience of community datasets and Rio
  • Experience of completing returns to Department of Health, NHS England, Benchmarking, or Public Health England
  • Working knowledge of PbR and NHS tariffs.
