Job summary
Be Safe is a highly regarded multi-disciplinary team based within the AWP specialist CAMHS that delivers services in Bristol for young people up to 18 and in South Gloucestershire for children aged 7 to 11 who have engaged in problematic/harmful sexual behaviour, their parents/carers and support network. The team has a strong commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and leads on CAMHS wide initiatives in this regard. The postholder will be provided with the necessary support, training and supervision to undertake the role.
The postholder will be required to hold an appropriate NVQ level 3 qualification in mental health, social work, criminal justice or youth work and/or be able to demonstrate an equivalent and relevant level of experience and knowledge alongside a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Experience of working with children and young people who have engaged in risky behaviour that may put themselves or others at risk is required as well as experience of working with children and young people whom services find challenging to engage. This could be within mental health, criminal justice, education or social care settings.
Main duties of the job
To provide brief assessments and interventions under the direction of the team's Senior Specialist Practitioner and in collaboration with team practitioners within the community including assertive outreach and community support to children and young people who have engaged in problematic/harmful sexual behaviour and their parents/carers and the support network around them.
Under direction and guidance of senior staff to help develop interventions, tools and resources to be used by staff with children, young people and their parents/carers. This will include supporting the revision of the Keep Safe Treatment Manual for Young People with Learning Disabilities who have harmed sexually and their parents/carers, and the Be Safe-Stay Safe Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Programme for children with problematic sexual behaviour and their parents/carers and delivery of these programmes alongside other practitioners within the team.

Job responsibilities
- To undertake brief assessments and interventions with young people and their parents/carers and provide assertive outreach within the community.
- To contribute to multi-disciplinary risk assessments.
- To plan and review interventions with the child/young person and support network alongside the team in line with their Assessment, Safety, Care and Support Plan.
- To work collaboratively with young people and their parents/carers and support network to further support the development of strengths as well as addressing risk/concern factors.

Education and Qualifications
Essential

- Demonstrate an ability to deliver a range of specific approaches to assessment and therapeutic interventions with agreed outcomes within a prescribed framework relevant to this group of children and young people and their parents/carers/families.
- Demonstrate well-developed listening skills and effective verbal communication skills, such as being able to engage appropriately with service users, carers, colleagues, statutory and voluntary agencies, both face to face and by telephone.
- Demonstrate well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to produce letters, written reports, maintain accurate records and record required statistical information.
- Able to demonstrate a general understanding of the issues relevant to children and young people who have engaged in problematic/harmful sexual behaviour and their parents/carers/families with a positive, non-judgemental approach
