Highly Specialised Physiotherapist BHC
Fixed-term contract (9 and 12 months) - 37.5 hours per week
We have an opportunity for YOU to join a rewarding and enjoyable position working for Barts Health; the largest Trust in England - specifically at the St Bartholomew's site. The role will involve working closely with other service pathways within St Bartholomew's site and across all other sites to deliver a consistent, high level of service.
Alongside your Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality physiotherapy service within Barts Heart Centre.
Cardiovascular pathways include:

- Level 2/3 Critical Care Units
- Thoracic surgery including robotic surgery and ERAS pathway
- Cardiology including the busiest heart attack Centre in Europe and recently commissioned VV-ECMO service
- Cardiothoracics which has a growing complex aorto-vascular service and congenital heart service
We are looking for a minimum of 5 years acute care experience working within the NHS and ideally experience with cardiothoracic and/or critically ill patients. Individuals should have strong clinical skills and display a strong commitment to patient centred, evidence-based care.

Essential
- BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy
- State registered (HCPC)
- Band 6 post experience in any medical area including critical care (approximately 2 years minimum)
- Relevant validated clinical courses accredited as equivalent to Masters level
- Clinical Educators Qualification
Desirable
- Member of the CSP
- Post graduate formal qualification (i.e. MSc Module)
- Leadership training
Experience
Essential
- Post registration experience in core rotations including medical and respiratory clinical settings, care of the elderly, neurology
- Documented evidence of CPD, in accordance with HPC recommendations
- Advice, supervision, appraisal, training and support to junior staff, support staff and students
- Experience of audit and research
- Experience of sole working as part of an out of hours emergency respiratory service
Desirable
- Relevant post registration experience as a cardiorespiratory Physiotherapist
Knowledge

- Core skills and understanding of cardiorespiratory physiology and pathophysiology specific to post
- Knowledge of a range of clinical conditions, particularly in relation to neurological conditions and acute rehabilitation
- Ability to assess and treat complex patients in the respiratory/critical care field
- Ability to carry out essential and appropriate respiratory physiotherapy interventions and procedures, including NIV and CPAP set up / knowledge of different interfaces
- Ability to identify patients deteriorating function and take appropriate action
