Job summary

The post holder will work across all domains of the Integrated Care System to support the delivery of Diagnostic Transformation agenda, particularly supporting the successful development and implementation of workforce related projects outlined in the Diagnostics Workforce Strategy, supporting the NHS Long Term plan and aligned to the strategic objectives of the systems Cancer and Diagnostics Delivery Improvement Boards.

Main duties of the job

Establishing priorities for workforce for the cancer and diagnostic programmes in discussion with SRO and collaboration with all system partners. Developing implementation plans that reflect and will deliver on the priorities, including interpretation of relevant national policies.

  • Provide subject matter expertise where required on both a day-to-day basis and to the identified workstreams within the cancer and diagnostics plans, applying critical thinking to advise on pros and cons of proposed workforce changes and developments, offering knowledge in these areas and suggesting improvements and changes and ensuring they are embedded within daily practice.
  • Contribute to programme plan development utilising existing evidence and local knowledge, building in continuous evaluation to support future planning and sharing of best practice, including the ICS Local People Plan
  • Act upon the recommendations in the recently published workforce strategy
  • Regularly review and revise the workforce strategy in collaboration with system partners considering changes in local, regional or national policy

Person Specification

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Knowledge and or understanding of workforce planning and transformation gained by experience and/or further training
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Knowledge and Expereince

Essential

  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
  • Demonstrable contribution to advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
  • Knowledge of funding routes and experience in writing successful bids
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at SMT level

  • Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required
  • Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
  • Putting the long-term health, social care and well-being needs of the population first ("system first")
  • Numerate and able to understand complex financial issues combined with deep analytical skills
