Job summary

We are recruiting for a Service Lead for Adult Audiology who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic Audiology team on a journey of improvement.

You will support the Head of Service, Head of Operations and the senior management team to improve access to the full range of audiology services, including participating in the development and implementation of national and local policy across the department to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of evidence-based care. Using modernising referral pathways, leading on key projects with the clinical director and general manager to support improved delivery of clinical services and support implementation of renewed processes which further improve patient care within the department.

Service Lead for Adult Audiology will work with the Corporate Leads, Head of Operations, Clinical Directors, Service Managers to enable the identification, scoping, agreement and delivery of specific quality and efficiency improvement projects and programmes which help to deliver a culture of continuous improvement within the Audiology Department.

Main duties of the job

The Service Lead for Adult Audiology will not only help deliver several specific projects and work streams but more importantly will support embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the Audiology Department.

To have overall responsibility for ensuring the effective delivery of the Adult Audiology service to nationally agreed levels of activity and quality, whilst developing a service culture where everyone is valued will be a key aspect in delivering success to this role.

Person Specification

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable post-qualification experience working autonomously in both diagnostic & (re)habilitative Adult Audiology
  • Evidence of management/supervisory experience
  • Evidence of sound knowledge and clinical experience of a full range of both basic and advanced adult assessment and rehabilitation techniques
  • Wide knowledge and experience of NHS networks/referral routes
  • Experience of clinical audit, research, and presentations at scientific meetings.

Skills/ Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, excellent communicator particularly with the hard of hearing and Deaf
  • Possess fine manual dexterity.
  • Good basic computer skills - database and spreadsheet use
  • Evidence of an enquiring mind, a scientific approach and a commitment to the ideal of the NHS

Additional requirements

Essential

  • Willingness to undertake further professional training of their own and others development.

Desirable

  • Ability to travel between sites
  • Flexible approach to working hours

Qualifications / Training

Essential

  • MSc in Audiological Science
  • Successfully attained the Certificate of Audiological Competence (or equivalent)
  • Current HCPC state registration
  • Evidence of CPD in accordance with BAA

Desirable

  • Study to a higher level
  • Advanced course in Audiology, management and/or Doctorate
  • Training/supervisory qualification (LEO, Clinical educators etc)
  • Stage 1 British Sign Language
