Job summary

A part time (0.6WTE) vacancy has opened to join our Radiology (X-Ray) team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals .Main duties will include managing the administrative processes for handling and appointing imaging referrals for all interventional procedures in CT/US & Fluoroscopy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the delivery of the diagnostic elements of optimal patient pathways, ensuring diagnostic standards are adhered to and escalating when services are at risk of breaching established KPIs and turn-around-time standards.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and high-quality administrative function within the radiology team and assist the service leads in the management of the radiology examination bookings. The primary role of which is focus on the interventional procedures for CT, U/S and fluoroscopy across all WHTH sites. The secondary focus will be other non-interventional examination booking management.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will ensure that every effort is taken to achieve minimum waiting times for appointments, in line with government & local targets, improve quality and communication, and work with the modality and service leads to reduce the numbers of patients who do not attend their appointments.

Undertaking administrative duties associated with the management of referrals, scheduling of appointments including overseeing specific clinic schedules and ensuring reports are generated and conveyed to the appropriate clinical teams.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE qualifications (Maths, English, IT).

Desirable

  • NVQ3 Customer Care or 2 years' equivalent experience in a customer facing environment or a willingness to work towards an NVQ3.
  • NVQ Administration, Certificate in Management
  • Radiology specific qualifications.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Medical Terminology.
  • Understanding of radiology interventional cases.
  • Understanding of patient tracker lists and referral to treatment rules
  • Competent in Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Understanding of information governance issues and how to manage confidential patient information and Data Protection Act.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems, e.g. CRIS, Clinicom, EPR, CERNER.
  • Understanding the Trust's policy on equality/diversity and Health & Safety policies.
  • Knowledge of Radiology systems of work.
  • DMO1, 6 week wait targets.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of administration role within the NHS.
  • Patient facing role experience.

Desirable

  • Experiencing of employment within an NHS Radiology department.
  • Complaint handling.
  • Reception and secretarial experience.
