Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists to join our UKAS accredited Haematology and Blood Transfusion 24/7 service. This is an exciting opportunity to further broaden your skill set - working in a modern and well-equipped laboratory, providing an extensive repertoire of investigations. Pathology at UHS is dedicated to providing an excellent patient experience and the well-being and development of our staff. Available opportunities include the IBMS specialist portfolio and the opportunity to observe patient facing services such as paediatric cardiac teams and automated red cell exchange. The pathology team won the chairman's outstanding team award last year for its innovative and determined approach to delivering outstanding patient care.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The role involves analysing specimens for diagnostic and screening purposes, providing blood components for patient care, maintenance and use of modern technology including Vision Swift, Sysmex XN and TOP750.

We are looking for candidates who have excellent teamwork, prioritisation and analysis skills. Successful candidates will have good time management, attention to detail and be able to take initiative.

You will be working in a fast paced friendly team providing a 24/7 service to our patients. On completion of an internal training program you may be required to participate in the out of hours rota including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays averaging to 37.5 hours per week. This is a flexible roster using a self-rostering approach improving well-being and work life balance

Interviews will take place face to face on Friday the 19th July. Interviews will be face to face as there is a practical element that cannot be carried out remotely.
