As a Substance Use Nurse in our Hammersmith and Fulham Service, you'll make a real difference to the lives of those experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage. Our service offers support to individuals across Hammersmith & Fulham. You will work within a busy service under the supervision of our Clinical Lead to improve the wellbeing of a wide range of individuals.

Main duties of the job

As a Substance Use Nurse you will be involved with supporting opiate substitute treatment, alcohol and opiate detoxifications and promoting the uptake of naloxone. You will also provide support to the nursing team providing Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations and will work closely with mental health, physical health and social care services. You'll also help to create a collaborative approach that links Turning Point ever closer to outside professionals and agencies. The development of stronger links with our three local general hospitals and mental health inpatient unit is part of this role.

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

    • Full training will be provided and no direct experience of substance use is required but an ability to demonstrate providing effective health interventions with hard to reach cohorts such as homelessness would be advantageous.
    • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, you will need to be confident managing of both opiates and alcohol detoxifications within both our Nursing Team and the wider team at Turning Point and the agencies we work with.
