Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and autonomous SLT practitioner with excellent communication skills to lead our outpatient SLT Voice and Upper airway service at Ashford and St Peter's Hospital. The service is delivered through a mix of face to face and virtual consultations.

You would be part of a dynamic and friendly Therapy team based within the ASPH Foundation Trust. There is a team of Speech and Language Therapists working across outpatient voice therapy, acute and rehabilitation wards. The successful applicant would be actively encouraged to participate in formal and informal networking, peer review and training across a well-established Surrey-wide Adult Speech and Language Therapy voice therapy network.

We are looking for someone with well-established skills and who can demonstrate experience in the assessment, therapy and management of voice disorders, for both paediatric and adult client groups.

The successful applicant will have the skills to work independently and manage the service on a day to day basis.

There will also be an opportunity to influence the ongoing development of the SLT service provision through audit and service development to support excellent clinical care.

Main duties of the job

Job Summary

To provide a resource of expertise for SLT colleagues and others for client and clinical service issues for this client group

To provide advice, second opinion, learning opportunities, training and direction for service development in the specialist area

To assess, diagnose and treat clients with a high level of clinical complexity, often within a specialist context or knowledge area

To evaluate outcomes at organisation level

To undertake research / audit and service wide projects to develop practice

To supervise the work of other speech and language therapists, students, speech and language therapy assistants and volunteers in this specialist area

The Trust is moving towards 7 day working and this post will be expected to participate in providing services across 7 days, including extended hours and weekend working

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • oBSc Hons or recognised degree equivalent qualification in Speech & Language Therapy
  • oHealth Professions Council - Licence to Practice
  • oRegistered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • oMembership of relevant Special Interest Groups

Desirable

  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses up to Masters degree equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • oRelevant experience at undergraduate / post graduate level
  • oSignificant experience working in the specialist field of voice disorders
  • oRelevant highly specialist experience post registration

Desirable

  • Experience of working with Dysphagia
