Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Senior Audiologist roles in the Audiology Department based in the Surgery and Associated Specialties Board at the Freeman Hospital.

The post holder will be required to travel to various outreach sites in the Northumberland area.

The successful candidate will be responsible to help develop, organise, implement and evaluate audiology services to the area served. They will be required to deputise for the clinical lead in Audiology in aspects of supervision and service provision, including local management of outlying clinics.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate technical /clinical knowledge and judgement and apply this to practice in the delivery of a modernised Audiology Service to adults and children in individual rehabilitation and care. They will be required to perform technical and diagnostic procedures in specialist areas and provide effective patient rehabilitation / counselling and implement appropriate aftercare services.

Person Specification

KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Professional knowledge.
  • Delivery of evidence based practise in line with professional protocols and guidelines.
  • Continuous professional development including advanced theoretical and practical knowledge.

Desirable

  • Membership of BSA and BAA.
  • Specialist interest / experience in an area in Audiology.

SKILLS

Essential

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Good analytical and judgemental skills.
  • Good planning and organisation.

Desirable

  • Driving licence and access to a car.
  • Supervisory / training skills.
  • Good IT skills

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant experience including qualification period.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Qualified RCCP registered Audiologist or HCPC Clinical Scientist.
  • BSc or MSc in Audiology or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Higher Level study
  • Mentorship certificate
