Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an expert physiotherapist with advanced clinical and leadership skills to work within the neurosurgical service and neurocritical care at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. The post holder will be work within an established and highly skilled multidisciplinary team to deliver clinically excellent, high quality, patient focused care in both an inpatient and critical care setting.
Main duties of the job
Clinically you will be job planned to work within the areas of neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and neuro-critical care. You will act as a clinical expert and senior leader to the multiprofessional neurosurgical, neuro-oncology and neurocritical care therapy team, and have professional and direct line management responsibilities for the physiotherapists within that team.
This post has operational responsibility for a team multiprofessional team of therapists, and support workers, and is jointly responsible, with the other senior members of the MDT for the delivery of work class neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and neurocritical care.

Education/Qualifications Training
Essential
- Degree / diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registered
- Evidence of post-graduate training in neurosciences to the equivalent of modules at Masters/Level 7 education
- Active member of neurological special interest group
- Evidence of management training
- Evidence of appraisal training
Desirable
- Masters degree / working towards a MSc
- Evidence of teaching skills course
- Experience of working in the NHS
- Member of the relevant professional college or society e.g., CSP

Essential
- Minimum of 6 years post-graduate experience
- 5-year specific neurological experience
- Previous experience as a Senior I or Supt IV physiotherapist for a minimum of 2 years
- Evidence of having supervised qualified therapy staff
- Experience in initiating and undertaking audit
- Experience in management of patients with acute neurosurgical needs and / or complex neurology
- Experience of teaching a wide range of groups, e.g., therapy colleagues, the multidisciplinary team and external agencies.
- Experience of acute neurosurgical treatment interventions
- Evidence in involvement in risk management, quality standard setting and clinical effectiveness
- Evidence of a knowledge of the recruitment and selection process
