Would you like to work with a friendly, motivated, caring and experienced neurodevelopmental pathway team who are striving to provide psychologically informed assessment, formulation and treatment interventions and provide quality outcomes?

We would love to welcome you if you feel the following applies;

You are a skilled, experienced and compassionate Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with a passion for working with children and families.

You have experience in and knowledge of a range of psychological models and are able to distinguish between a range of difficulties, particularly mental health, developmental trauma, attachment difficulties as well as neurodevelopment disorders, in order to contribute to the formulation and understanding of a child's presentation within the Neurodevelopmental pathway.

You are able to offer supervision of a team of Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists who are a key element of the pathway.

You will have the ability to work flexibly to manage the complexities relating to the needs of young people we work with.

As a senior psychologist you will be expected to play a key role in integrating psychology and contributing to the ongoing development of services through teaching and training, research and consultation.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for providing a qualified clinical psychology service to the Neurodevelopmental pathway providing psychological assessment and formulation, advice and consultation to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment.

Where appropriate the post-holder will provide clinical supervision to less experienced staff, in accordance with service needs.

The post-holder will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy ,kindness, respect and dignity.

The post-holder will contribute to training on a multi-disciplinary basis.

The post-holder will utilise research skills for clinical audit, and to inform service development within the remit of the post.

The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

The post-holder will receive clinical and professional supervision from a consultant clinical psychologist.

It is a fixed term 12 month contract in the first instance but this may be extended. Please contact us to discuss this further.

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society

knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings
  • Formal training in clinical supervision of trainee clinical psychologists and other staff.
  • Demonstrate further specialist training and experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Associate Psychological Services Director.

Desirable

  • Experience of neurodevelopmental assessments with children and young people

Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Skills in managing emotional impact of dealing with highly emotive and distressing situations through self-management and use of the clinical supervision process.
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Skills in providing clinical supervision and consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multimedia materials for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
  • Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure of highly emotive behaviour.
