Job summary

An exciting opportunity to join our team, as a Deputy Finance Business Partner. Supporting a Finance Business Partner in providing all aspects of financial management and advice to our Medicine Care Group. This post would be suitable for a recently qualified accountant. We offer a hybrid working model of 2 days in the office and 3 working from home .

You will be responsible for managing and co ordinating the work of a designated Assistant Finance Business Partner. Undertaking an active role in their professional and personal development.

Main duties of the job

Provide financial advice and management information to managers and staff within the corporate areas. This includes budget setting and monitoring, variance analysis, forecasting and the identification and recommendation of effective actions to address adverse movement from or improvements to the care group plan.

To assist in the provision of financial management support to the process of service modernisation within the Trust.

We are looking for someone with advanced excel skills, who is keen to design innovative ways of working which take advantage of automation and business intelligence.

To assist the Finance Business Partner (FBP) in providing all aspects of financial management & advice to the specified Care Group/Medicine area including lead responsibility for identified services within the Care Group/Medicine area.

To be an integral part of the Care Group management team, deputising for the FBP as required.

To co-ordinate the work of the Care Group finance team, ensuring timely, accurate & relevant income, expenditure & activity reports are available for budget holders in the Care Group/Medicine areas.

To actively contribute to the management of the Finance Directorate, including taking the lead on particular corporate trust-wide initiatives.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

  • CCAB or equivalent qualified accountant
  • Experience of Financial Management
  • Developing effective working relationships with clinicians and other budget-holders.
  • Knowledge of management accounting techniques & relevant Financial Reporting Standards
  • Good analytical and technical accounting skills
  • Dealing with large complex budgets and providing financial advice to non-financial managers in a clearly understood and authoritative manner.
  • High level of computer literacy. Ability to create and manipulate complex spreadsheets and the ability to use various software packages to report.

Desirable

  • Advanced Excel Skills
