We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Thameside a category B resettlement prison in the South-East London based close to Woolwich Arsenal and Plumstead stations.

In this role you will be supporting around 1232patients including an 18 bed inpatient unit. This position would suit a GP who enjoys delivering end to end care and has a particular interest in supporting patients with mental health and substance misuse needs. You will be working closely with a fully staffed specialist mental health and inpatient team as well as two ANPs.

This role also come with the potential to take on a rotational role between HMP Thameside and HMP Belmarsh, giving a wider variety of clinical experience.

Hours We can offer variable shift patterns, the role would include an element of out of hours work to cover receptions which run until 23.00

Salary

This position is full time role working 40 hours per week,youll receive an annual salary up to £125,400per annum- depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldnt usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active
  • involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required

  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
