Job summary

A permanent vacancy has arisen within the Audiology Service for a Band 7 Advanced Audiologist/ Clinical Scientist, to assist in the provision of a high quality Audiology service to the population of North Wales served by BCUHB. The post holder will perform duties within the Adult Audiology service as described in the job description with a particular focus on vestibular assessment and diagnostic audiology. The successful applicant will have skills and experience in vestibular assessment. The post-holder will be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd.

Main duties of the job

This is an ideal opportunity to further develop clinical and service development skills in a supportive and progressive environment. There will be responsibility to train and supervise other clinical staff where appropriate. The Audiology team consists of Clinical Scientists, Audiologists, Associate and Assistant Audiologists. This team is committed to the development and delivery of high quality patient centered services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualification

Essential

  • MSc Audiological Science or equivalent knowledge
  • Post MSc professional training qualification or equivalent (appropriate for HCPC registration as a clinical scientist)
  • HCPC registration as clinical scientist (Audiology), RCCP or AHCS registration

Desirable

  • Membership of appropriate special interest groups

Experience

Essential

  • Extended experience working as a clinical scientist/audiologist (to include experience during STP training)

Desirable

  • Leadership skills
  • Evidence of teaching within post

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to perform wide range of Audiological procedures at advanced level
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to process and share highly complex information in a confidential manner
  • Actively involved in research and contribution to evidence based practice
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Ability to perform vestibular assessment and diagnostic audiology
