If you are looking for a way to express your caring personality and support those suffering from mental health illnesses, we have a fantastic opportunity to join our Secure Services Team based in Ipswich as a Clinical Support Worker.

We currently have vacancies within our Inpatient service which is a low secure service. Our Service Users (SU) are referred to our care via other secure units, the Ministry of Justice, national offender management services, other inpatient wards within the Trust and further afield.

SU's can be admitted into our ward for a few months or more. Our dedicated team works closely with the SU to determine the best treatment based on risk reduction and assessment while they are here and reviews this regularly.

Our service is recovery focused on Treatment, Therapy and Supportto help our SU return to well-being and independence in the community by providing personal support in a person-centred and holistic way.

Relational Security is at the foundation of how we run our services and support SU to recover, also it is a security of the knowledge and understanding we have of a patient, of ourselves and of the environment, and the translation of that information into appropriate responses and care. Relational security is not just about having a 'good relationship' with a SU. Safe and effective relationships between staff and service user must be professional, therapeutic, and purposeful with understood limits.

Main duties of the job

Youneed to be supportive and express the below listed qualities to provide the best care to our service users and their families:

  • Be approachable and interested in people
  • Be confident in talking with people and comfortable with helping people from diverse range of backgrounds, sexual orientation, culture, religion.
  • Have the ability to empathise without giving advice before speaking with your clinical team
  • Have non-judgmental attitude and be an active lister
  • Be perceptive to notice changes
  • Be calm in difficult circumstances or in crisis
  • Be able to protect boundaries especially in distressing situations
  • Have an awareness of and the ability to adhere to strict confidentiality rules
  • Be able to commit to time required for working on the wards (rotated shifts)
  • Be eligible to work in UK (this role is not sponsored by Trust)
