An exciting opportunity to join our critical care team, has arisen!

We are currently seeking dedicated, caring, compassionate & highly motivated newly qualified and experienced Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our team in our brand new 22 bedded ICU .

If caring for critical ill patients excites you, and you are keen to develop your current skills and learn new skills such as advanced respiratory and cardiac support, we can support with a development programme.

We require nurses who are passionate about excellent patient care, clinical safety and effective teamwork. Our practice development team, specialist nurses and MDT will work with you to enhance your critical care nursing skills.

We can offer you the opportunity to attend the critical care course through which you will be supported. In addition you will have access to excellent on-going professional education and development through our links with a variety of London Universities. We will expect you to be motivated, adhere to NMC and Trust codes and values, be able to work proactively as a part of a multidisciplinary team and have the ability to communicate clearly across our integrated organisation.

You will be provided with unrivalled opportunities to develop your knowledge and skill set, as well as gaining further experience in your area/s of clinical interest.

Arranging an informal visit to the unit is recommended!

Main duties of the job

The Band 5 Staff Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality patient care, whilst working in close co-operation and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

The Staff Nurse will:

  • Provide high quality clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the senior nurse in charge
  • Work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines, whilst also being aware of the importance of their role in supporting members of the team, and always adhering to the Trust values, and in accordance with NMC regulations.
  • Work autonomously and with others to always deliver high standards of care to patients and their careers, autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Communicate in line with Trust values, to patients, careers and staff at all times.
  • Take every opportunity to continue to develop, practice and expand their own general and specialist nursing skills.
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, and accountability and be aware of the medico-legal aspects of nursing, in line with professional, regulating and local guidance.
