We have an opportunity for a clinical trainer within our training team, based at the Learning and Development Centre, Aspect House in Nottingham. Working within an established and valued training team, the post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of a range of clinical training programmes and mandatory training to enable our staff to develop the clinical competencies required for their roles. This role will be aligned to your own clinical capabilities and gives you the opportunity to develop your own skill set within a training role.

Main duties of the job

To work within the Learning and Development team, to help develop and deliver innovative and creative training that supports the needs of our clinical workforce, ensuring our regulatory and statutory training obligations are met.

To deliver proficiency in agreed clinical capability training (e.g., clinical skills, moving and handling, wellbeing), which would include taking a proactive team approach to ensure policy and training interventions are fit for purpose in relation to those specialisms.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To support the Head of Learning and Development and the training team in the planning, development and provision of training for CityCare staff and external clients.
  • To facilitate and provide training to CityCare staff and external clients in statutory/essential training. Subjects may include but are not limited to: Basic Life Support, Conflict Resolution, Moving and Handling, Recognising the Deteriorating Patient & Sepsis and Clinical Observations.
  • Evaluate the courses delivered and inform the Head of Learning and Development and training team of any areas for review and development.
  • Promote the importance of good clinical practice across the organisation.
  • The training delivered will meet organisational policy & national policy directives, for example, NICE guidelines, Resuscitation Council guidelines.

  • Resources: Responsible for maintenance of equipment, e.g. resuscitation and moving and handling equipment and for ensuring the Head of Learning and Development is aware of any problems that may arise with the equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • To facilitate and provide evidence-based training to Nottingham CityCare staff and external clients in statutory and essential training, including New Starter Induction. Subjects may include - Basic Life Support, Moving and Handling, Conflict Resolution and Recognising the Deteriorating Patient & Recognising Sepsis Training.
  • To take lead role in developing innovative and creative training that supports the needs of the clinical workforce ensuring all interventions comply with our statutory obligations, codes of practice and good practice and are aligned to CityCares business plans and supports development of the brand identity.
  • To continuously review and improve the quality of training provided in response to changes in practice and learners feedback.
  • To deliver training to CityCare staff, staff employed within the group, students and customers of City Care Exchange.
  • To deliver defined areas of the induction programme for all new starters as and when required.
  • To act as the organisational expert in agreed clinical specialisms (e.g. nursing skills, resuscitation and moving and handling), which would include taking a proactive approach in monitoring national guidelines and policy changes to ensure policy and training interventions are fit for purpose in relation to those specialisms.
  • Contribute to the overall work of CityCare by inputting to and assisting in the organisation of conference, study days, workshops etc.
  • Maintaining continuous professional development and researching new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and presenting this research.
  • Have an understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, being involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages.
  • Take a lead role in developing and supporting clinical champion roles.
  • To develop and forge strong relationships within the organisation, representing CityCare and the department as appropriate at meetings and events.
  • To facilitate internal events and programmes, acting as an ambassador for the organisation by promoting a professional, positive and transparent approach.
  • To work with the Head of Learning and Development to develop training and leadership programmes.
  • To assist the Head of Learning and Development to identify the learning needs for the organisation.
  • To raise employee awareness and encourage participation in relation to CityCares training programme.
  • To maintain professional clinical registration.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Recognised appropriate training/teaching qualification eg CTP, CIPD, PTLLS or PG Cert etc)
  • Registered Nurse currently on Part 1 NMC register with varied post-registration experience in clinical practice

Desirable

  • IT Qualification or equivalent experience (ECDL or equivalent)
