Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients
  • To share with colleagues responsibility for day-to-day management of Respiratory & General Medicine services with a commitment to the acute medical 1 in 11 on call rota
  • Teaching and training of junior staff
  • To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit

To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME)

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Completion of a minimum of 12 years' medical work since obtaining primary medical qualification.
  • Membership with the relevant Royal College for the speciality or equivalent.
  • GMC Registration and license to practice.

Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Should have completed a recognised training programme in General and Respiratory medicine.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a Hight level of clinical experience and competence in Respiratory Medicine.
  • Knowledge of current trends in speciality.
  • IT skills.

Teaching

Essential

  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, post-graduates and junior medical staff.

Audit & Research

Essential

  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty.

Motivation

Essential

  • Commitment to the development of a high quality cost effective service to.

Management

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of current NHS issues.
  • Ability to develop services.

Personal Skills

Essential

  • Energy and enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure
