Job summary

The post holder will be required to work as part of the GMMH 24/7 All Age Crisis Helpline based at Old Trust HQ, Prestwich Hospital, Bury New Road, Prestwich, Manchester.

The post holder will be expected to co-ordinate and prioritise their day-to-day clinical workload.

A key role will be to support the NWAS project dial 2 for Mental Health, this will require the post holder to be flexible as well as being flexible in terms of base and agility in working across the wider system.

The post holder will be expected to be responsible for the clinical practice of the helpline staff, developing their skills and supporting identified training needs through supervision and annual appraisal.

The post holder will also be a source of specialist knowledge and advice to professionals at all levels within the helpline/ EOC around care and management of service users presenting with primary and secondary mental health needs.

The post holder will be expected to deputise and lead the service in the absence of the Team Manager when appropriate.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to and work to develop the educational and training input provided to stakeholders.

The post holder will be expected to supervise Band 6, Band 5 & Band 4 colleagues in their assessments, care planning, risk management.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support, and consultation to staff within the MHUTT team.
  • Take the lead / offer support and guidance to team members on Safeguarding cases.
  • Work alongside the Clinical Team Managers to provide strong operational and quality focused
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives within the team with a focus on patient
  • Complete audits to identify gaps in standards of care and devise SMART action plans to ensure improvements are
  • To work collaboratively with other services and shareholders to ensure best outcomes for service users.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to the team and in line with relevant clinical pathway as outlined within the operational procedures.
  • Manage and evaluate a clinical documentation in line with relevant clinical pathways as outlined within the operational procedure and will include: -
    1. Assessment
    2. To support the service with any developmental requirements exhibiting a clear understanding of the NHSE forward plan.
    3. Formulation of risk and safety planning.
    4. Therapeutic intervention as required.
    5. Close working with all colleagues.
    6. To be responsible for a complex caseload
    7. To support junior members of staff with non-judgmental bias
  • Act as a shift co-Ordinator ensuring all staff are fully supported within the NHS 111 Dial 2 for mental health system and process.

Deputize for the Team Manager in his/her absence and take on any delegated management duties as required.

Job responsibilities

The postholder will be required to work 9am 5pm. Monday to Friday, but flexible working will be required to meet service demand including at times weekends/nights. There is an expectation that the post holder will participate in out-of-hours management on call Rotas in providing management cover for weekends and statutory holidays. The post holder will Lead on the NHS 111 Dial 2 for mental health and will be expected to agile work between bases if the clinical need arises. This role will also require some face to face assessments with service users as the service continues to develop, evolving consistently with a clear plan for future service provision in place.
