Job summary

We are very proud of our department: the Diabetes and Endocrinology department is the largest in the East of England, and one of the largest in the UK. Our department directorate supports a full range of specialist and general clinical services.

The main Endocrinology & Diabetes dept is based on level 3 in the East Outpatients block. We also have a team working in Rouen Road, Norwich.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care.

You will be required to work Wednesday and Thursday and be based at NNUH in the CIU office.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to be our Data Administrator in our Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU). We are looking for someone with keen analytical skills and strong IT skills. You will therefore be confident in the use of IT, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Outlook, Word and Excel. You will be entering patient data onto internal and external databases as part of regular clinical services reviews and quality benchmarking on our specialty dashboard.

Key responsibilities/duties include accurate data input, supporting senior nurse with endocrine queries, responding to specific email queries, updating internal spreadsheets, liaising with other departments such as Research and Development and administrating the MDT meetings. You will be expected to provide regular reports and collate data from multiple sources.

You will have experience in data collation and reporting and will be used to high level accuracy and detail. You will be self-motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative. You will have strong analytical and problem solving skills and your communication skills should be excellent.

You will be able to prioritise your workload and work on your own initiative.

Training with the relevant internal and external computer systems will be given.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To actively support the running and administration of Endocrinology, and the Clinical Investigations Unit.
  • To work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses, secretaries and all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) within Endocrinology and with associated departments, to ensure comprehensive information is recorded for all patients on the pathway.
  • Inform relevant clinicians and management where patients might not have received the care as per national guidelines.
  • To produce daily, weekly and monthly reports capture Endocrinology performance data, including mandatory SSQD reports.
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of all targets and processes relating to Endocrinology National Guidelines and to be a point of reference within the department for other members of the MDT.
  • To assist the Endocrine leads with the collation, preparation and submission of accurate information in relation to SSQD (Specialised Services Quality Dashboards) and quarterly performance reporting.
  • To collect Endocrinology and Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) patient data from a range of different sources within the hospital.
  • To access PAS, ICE, Symphony, Dimensions, case notes, Electronic Document Template and update relevant records.
  • To support the medical and nursing team with their departmental audits and research, capturing relevant data and formatting it into submittable information
  • Will work within strict timescales to ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Three GCSE grades A-C (or equivalent) in English, Maths and at least one other subject
  • Medical terminology or AMSPAR trained

Experience

  • Administration experience/data input
