What do we need?

We are looking for an engaged, positive, friendly, hard-working and resilient individual to join our salaried GP team at Alvanley Family Practice.

We're working in an area with a very busy day-to-day operation, so we need someone flexible and resilient. We operate a unique system of triage designed to protect GPs from unnecessary workload.

The post would be for 6 sessions per week, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Currently we allocate one triage doctor per day, so you would be expected to be part of this rota.

In our PCN, we have access to a Pharmacy Hub, First Contact Physio, Social Prescriber, Care Coordinator and Health Coaches.

This information is subject to change over time. We don't anticipate it changing, but in the future we may need to update how we operate to match changing patient demand.

How to Apply

Please apply using the portal. The deadline is Sunday 14th July 2024.

We are going to offer informal visits to the practice in week commencing 17th July, and aim to contact applicants to arrange this on Friday 12th July.

For any additional questions please contact [email protected].

Main duties of the job

A Typical Day

  • 15 appointments in the morning session, 13 appointments in the afternoon session (10 minute appts).
  • We have an allocated 'triage GP' each day, and two paramedics who do the majority of the home visits. This means when you are doing normal sessions, any additional visits are built into the morning, rather than being 'extras'.
  • Triage doctor each day required to stay until 6:30pm. Any GPs working a normal day leave when the work is finished, which can be earlier.
  • A 'fair share' of daily paperwork (lab reports, prescriptions, clinical letters etc.)
  • We are a very busy practice, but we try our best to avoid extras where possible.

About us

Alvanley Family Practice is part of Woodley Health Centre, in a desirable area close to the M60. We have very high rates of QOF achievement, and excellent patient survey results.

We feel our relationship with our patients makes us unique. We have a long-running and well established set of Patient Champions, and have a range of community schemes alongside our patients including a walking group and an allotment. We find these schemes have helped solidify our place in the community, and encourage a wider range of patients to engage with our services.

We have just over 6,000 patients on our list, so we are a busy practice. Our partners and management team are highly focused on using technology to allow colleagues across the building to work smarter, and this is an ongoing journey for us.

We are not utilising agencies for this or any other vacancy and we do not give permission for our contact details to be used for marketing purposes as per GDPR.
