Consultant post in Respiratory Medicine and GIM

Applications are invited for Consultant Respiratory Physician at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust.

The post will cover general respiratory disorders, sleep, pleural and EBUS. There is also a research element to this role.

The appointment is for a full-time Consultant Physician within Respiratory Medicine and GIM.

Main duties of the job

The post is to primarily support Respiratory ward and outpatient clinics.

The post is full-time and constructed with 10 PA job plan.

The successful candidates should have obtained CCT in Respiratory and General (Internal) medicine or be within 6 months at the time of appointment.

The respiratory departments at Chelsea & Westminster and West Middlesex hospitals provide comprehensive in-and out-patient respiratory services including state of the art interventional bronchoscopy, non-invasive ventilation, sleep diagnostics & therapeutics, lung cancer, airway and TB services.

There are significant teaching & training opportunities for both consultants and more junior trainees and both departments are research-active.

The appointment is for a full-time Consultant Physician within Respiratory Medicine and GIM.

The post holder will work with the existing Consultants to develop services in Respiratory medicine in particular sleep medicine.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration and MRCP
  • On specialist register or within 6 months of completion for CCT in Respiratory Medicine
  • The candidate should be accredited in General Medicine
  • MBBS or equivalent registerable medical qualification
  • Good understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council.

  • Sub-speciality interest

  • Evidence of broad based training experience in General Medicine
  • Experience in audit and research

Skills and Knowledge

  • High level of Respiratory Skills
  • Competent Leadership, Organisational, Communication, professional and personal skills to undertake the role of Consultant.
  • Good personal and interpersonal skills
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduate trainees
  • Willingness and ability to participate in the on-call rota
  • IT proficiency including, email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS and the government's agenda for its modernisation
  • IT skills and computer literacy
  • Awareness of local needs and issues
  • Publications in Respiratory Medicine
