Cellular Pathology also known as anatomical (or anatomic) pathology, studies organs, tissues and cells at the cellular level, using a range of specialised tests, molecular pathology techniques, laboratory equipment and microscopes. It seeks to apply accurate processes and expert knowledge in the analysis and interpretation of results. Cellular Pathology services are used across medical specialties and help to detect disease and abnormalities, monitor a patient’s response to medical treatment, or determine a cause of death. Doctors undertake Integrated Cellular Pathology Training (ICPT) before specialisation in one of the cellular pathology specialties, which include: Histopathology, Diagnostic Neuropathology, Paediatric and Perinatal Pathology, and Forensic histopathology.
