Western Medical Services are seeking professional, skilled and compassionate Emergency Care Attendants to join our team of 'Bank/ADHOC' Emergency Care Attendants.
As an Emergency Care Attendant within Western Medical Services you will play a crucial role in providing emergency first response medical care to individuals in need and assist registered clinicians in providing emergency medical care. This is a rewarding role giving opportunities in a variety of different working areas to make a difference to those in need.
Main duties of the job
Working as an Emergency Care Attendant within Western Medical Services you will have opportunities to work within all our NHS contracted and private services. This includes

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To drive our ambulances, and other Western Medical Services owned vehicles should this be required, under normal and emergency (blue light) circumstance, in accordance with road traffic laws, taking particular care of the vehicles, its occupants and other road users.
- To carry out general vehicle checks at the start of, and during each shift, to ensure readiness of the vehicle.
- To report and log all defects, deficiencies and accident damage to our vehicles inline with our internal processes.
- To take responsibility for ensuring the maintenance, upkeep, cleanliness, and stock take of the vehicles.
- To support maintenance, care, and cleanliness of any equipment (including oxygen cylinders) and working environments.
- To maintain competent working knowledge of all medical and life support equipment carried on the vehicle, appropriate to the required skill level and scope of practice.
- Providing support to the qualified medical practitioner in the delivery of high-quality care within the scope of practice, including moving and handling of patients and equipment.
- To ensure that all procedures used within the scope of practice are consistent with and promote good infection control.
- To complete appropriate and clear documentation where required.
- To ensure good communication and working relationships with the whole team.
- To promote continuous high standard of care, ensuring everybody is treated with dignity and respect.
- To provide overall support to the Patient transport co-ordinators and senior management.
- To support with internal auditing, stock checks and ordering systems.
- Ensuring correct waste disposal procedures are adhered to.
- To support the team in ensuring all items of equipment are safely returned and refurbished after each shift and that the ambulance is ready for dispatch/allocation/next shift.
- Provide clinical assessment and treatment in line with your scope of practice in the community, as well as at our event sites.

- Experience working within event medical services
Qualifications
Essential
- Possess either a recognised ECA qualification (NHS/Apprenticeship) or valid FREC4 certificate.
- Good level of spoken and written english language.
- Possess a recognised and valid Emergency Driving qualification (CERAD/IHCD/NHS Trust)
Driving
Essential
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points
Personal
Essential
- Understanding of vehicle and road safety issues.
- Excellent knowledge of the highway code.
- Ability to provide basic life support.
- Experience in dealing with a range of age and social groups.
- A good team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Confident and assertive while remaining approachable.
- Ability to show respect and maintain dignity and confidentiality at all times.
