Job summary

We are seeking to appoint an Experienced Band 7 Dietitian and Clinical lead with a passion for acute Nutrition support and Critical care.

This role is an opportunity to operationally lead and support a team of Dietitian's and Assistant practitioners to proactively manage acute referrals while also delivering a dietetic service to our Level 3 Critical care unit. You will join a team of hard-working and dedicated Dietitians, Nutrition specialist nurses and will work closely with other operational clinical leads across our health board sites and our strategic lead for Malnutrition.

Main duties of the job

Clinically leads the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of best practice in relation to acute nutrition support and Critical Care.

Clinically leads the development and delivery of education and training in relation to acute nutrition support and Critical Care.

Acts as the operational on site lead for acute nutritional support supporting the team with daily caseload prioritisation and ensuring effective delegation to Dietetic support workers.

Line manages and clinically supervises delegated nutrition and dietetic staff ensuring consistent evidence based standards of care and effective multi-disciplinary working.

Leads the development and implementation of nutrition and dietetic related guidance and standards, resources, training and education in area of expertise and ensure effective integration across programmes of work in relation to acute nutrition support and critical care.

Manages a caseload of highly complex individuals requiring complex nutrition support (level 3 critical care unit).

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Recognised Degree in Dietetics
  • Accredited post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent
  • HCPC registered Dietitian
  • Demonstrates advanced level of clinical knowledge within the specialist field gained through attendance on specialist courses / advanced training
  • Established clinical problem solving skills
  • Completed Clinical Supervisory skills training
  • Established critical appraisal skills
  • Knowledge of current and emerging evidence base, national and professional policy and guidance in relation to acute nutrition support

Desirable

  • Masters level qualification relevant to specialist area of the role
  • Completed formal motivational interviewing training
  • Other professional, technical or academic qualification which relate to clinical practice or clinical leadership

Experience

  • Broad, well established dietetic practice
  • Extensive experience of adult nutritional support, clinically assisted nutrition
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership
  • Delegation to qualified and non qualified staff
