Job summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a dynamic Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) with opportunities available across the acute inpatient wards at The Royal Stoke University Hospital. The post holder will be required to manage a varied caseload of patients with communication difficulties and dysphagia arising from a range of aetiologies.
Main duties of the job
To have professional and clinical knowledge of acquired communication disorders and dysphagia.
To carry out independent assessment of speech and language disorders, with the implementation and evaluation of care/support package
Development of clinical skills in dysphagia.
Demonstrate initiative and autonomy, whilst being creative in finding solutions to problems.
Supervisory responsibilities as required.
To contribute to service development as part of the wider SLT team.
Always demonstrate the Trust values of: Together, Compassion, Safe and Improving.

- Experience of assessment and management of speech and language disorders.
- Experience of caseload management and caseload prioritisation

- Previously worked in a hospital setting.

Qualification

- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
- Registration with HCPC and RCSLT
Desirable
- Post Graduate RCSLT accredited dysphagia course or equivalent
- Completed RCSLT dysphagia competency framework to minimum Level A
