Developing Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - early years and school aged with autism interest.
We are looking for a flexible and creative therapist with experience in working in early years and mainstream to join our team. You should be interested in further developing skills around working with early years and or school aged children with significant needs, often with a diagnosis of autism.
The Haringey SLT team are a large, friendly team comprising newly qualified and experienced therapists who all share a commitment to provide an excellent service for children with language and communication disorders and eating and drinking needs.
There are a mix of opportunities to work as part of our early years team in clinics and nurseries and/ or as part of our mainstream schools team providing assessment and treatment to a wide range of children on an individual and group basis. You will work with and supervise junior staff including therapists, assistants and students.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities are to carry a personal clinical caseload, maintaining a high level of professional competence, as well as advising/training carers and multi-agency staff on issues related to both individual cases and effective communication strategies/good communication environments. The post holder will demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and participate in continuing professional development to maintain and further develop specialist knowledge and clinical practice.

Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma, Degree or MSC in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and Health Professions Council Registration to Practice
Desirable
- oEvidence of successful completion of short courses and other CPD in clinical area
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of a range of experience working with children with autism
- Experience of carrying out assessment and intervention for children with complex needs including children with Down syndrome, Autism and general developmental delay
- Experience of prioritisation of therapy and own workload
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues in health and other agencies including education
- Experience of planning and delivering training to parents and/or professionals
Knowledge
Essential
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant national policies, legislation and guidance relevant to clinical area
- Experience of clinical audit and knowledge of clinical governance
- Well established knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to clinical area
- Ability to take holiday outside of term time
Desirable
- An ability to speak a non-European language - especially Turkish or an African language.
