Job summary

We are delighted to be recruiting an Audiologist to be part of our dynamic and highly professional team, committed to service excellence, and who are pioneers in the field of Audiology services to the public.

As one of our Audiologists you will work autonomously, accepting direct referrals from primary and secondary care for adults and children. You will plan, coordinate and carry out diagnostic and rehabilitative programmes, noting and acting on the need for onward referral for medical and other professional opinions, as part of individual care plans. As a company we will actively encourage and support your ongoing Audiological education. While enhancing your clinical experience, we also offer opportunities to expand into different specialisms as and when they arise.

Salary :

Band 4 / FULL TIME Contract - 37.5 hours per week

Key requirements:

Band 4:FdSc (Hearing Aid Dispensing)

Experience working in previous audiology roles

Locations:

Chime, Audiology Department, Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, Barrack Road, Exeter as well as Heavitree Hospital andcommunity clinics with reimbursed travel expenses.

Main duties of the job

Plan and undertake diagnostic audiological procedures unsupervised and recommend appropriate courses of action on a direct referral basis.

Analysis, assessment and interpretation of a broad spectrum of diagnostic tests and rehabilitation.

Travelling to clinics in Health Centres and Community hospitals within the Devon area.

Job responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

To work in close cooperation with and provide support to the Adult Lead by conducting routine adult work.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Keep abreast of clinical developments and innovations and help implement them into our service

Ensure adherence to necessary standards (CQC, UKAS) and national protocols

Close liaison with adult lead to shape and deliver the adult service in a way that is mutually beneficial

Assist with monitoring of service, planning the delivery of the service, looking for and implementing efficiencies

Assist with reviewing the service (clinical audit)

Adapt style and behaviour in coordinating and cooperating with a team with individual emotional styles and vulnerabilities

Assisting with culture change to allow clinicians to feel free in their clinical decision making but supported in day-to-day tasks and their own development

Innovative and open minded in driving clinical efficiencies while retaining highest level of quality

Available to support staff with their specialisms

Collaborating with the adult lead to deliver necessary outcomes

Swiftly answers and resolves queries and complaints from service users

Demonstrate effective communication systems and constantly seek to improve such systems where appropriate.

Observe and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate a good command of the English Language
  • BTEC National Certificate in MPPM and BAATS Part 1 & 2

  • Flexibility in approach to work Commitment to developing clinical skills and experience in line with departmental needs. To keep abreast of clinical developments within the department to ensure standards of service are maintained and enhanced. To develop IT skills to keep abreast of changes in within clinical audiology and administration within the department.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

Essential

  • Good communication skills IT skills A knowledge of all NHS and digital models of hearing aids A practical knowledge of clinical Audiology and hearing aid technology.
