We are currently seeking band 5 Staff Nurses to join the Acute Cardiac Care unit (ACCU) Team.

This is a great opportunity to develop your clinical experience and skills in a diverse and fast-paced environment. As a band 5 staff nurse you will have the opportunity to provide specialist care to patients with a variety of cardiac conditions.

Main duties of the job

We need enthusiastic, open minded nurses who are keen to work at the leading edge of cardiothoracic practice. If you want to be a part of an exceptional team, and you are a caring individual with the ability to communicate/work effectively within a team, please submit an application.

Day to day you will be working as part of the clinical team delivering care to cardiothoracic patients in conjunction with members of the multidisciplinary team.

About usHarefield Hospital's Acute Cardiac Care Unit is a 40 bedded specialist cardiac centre caring for people who require cardiac investigations and interventions such as Angioplasty (Primary and Elective), Electrophysiology studies, TAVI, Ablations and Pacemakers/Devices. We also care for patients who have heart failure and those requiring end of life care. Our primary angioplasty service is one of the busiest in the country and we pride ourselves on the aftercare provided to patients following their MI.

The ward has two Practice Educators who provide excellent support and training. Each member of staff benefits from in-house training days and has the opportunity to apply for post graduate courses. The ward also benefits from input from specialist nurses, who are an excellent source of information, as you develop your knowledge.

Cardiothoracic experience is not required as there will be opportunity to gain skills and knowledge under the guidance of our Practice Education teams, ward mentors, and nursing development team.

Hours of work are weekdays/nights/weekends

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Training to a diploma/degree level

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
  • Ability to demonstrate application of the NHS Plan to own sphere of practice

Desirable

  • Depending on previous experience the candidate may be expected to supervise junior staff
  • Awareness of the structure and organisation of the wider NHS

Skills

Essential

  • Good basic level of English and excellent verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Able to manage difficult situations
