Social Work Jobs
Social Workers support a range of people and families to improve wellbeing, make better choices, and access services like emergency accommodation, government benefits and financial support, legal services, child protection services, family counselling, therapy, and healthcare. They manage caseloads of clients and advocate for their needs. They provide assessment and intervention services and follow up support services. They work with other agencies including the police, local authority departments, schools and the probation service. They work in hospitals, government agencies, prisons and community clinics, often visiting clients in their own homes. They may specialise in different practice areas such as, Community Health, Child and Family Welfare, Aged care, Palliative Care, Substance Abuse, Justice and Corrections, or in Rehabilitation/Acute care in clinical hospital settings. To pursue a career in this field, social workers complete an approved degree or postgraduate programme in social work, or alternatively a degree apprenticeship, and register with Social Work England.
